1-2-1 Counselling Services

All the therapists offer counselling on a 1-2-1 face-to-face basis.

Sessions last for 50 minutes and clients usually attend an appointment once a week at the same time each week. However this can be flexible between client and counsellor.

It is paramount that the client and counsellor feel comfortable working together. The therapeutic alliance is just as important as the theoretical concepts that the counsellor favours in their work.

In the first session, the therapist will contract with a client and explain the nature of confidentiality.

Payment is made to the counsellor at the end of session.

Telephone Counselling Services

Sometimes a client may not feel comfortable sharing personal information face-to-face with a stranger. JHD offers a telephone counselling service as an alternative to face-to-face therapy sessions.

Telephone counselling sessions last for half an hour. They are made by the client and take place once a week at the same time each week. This can be flexible between the client and counsellor.

During the first conversation, the therapist will explain the nature of confidentiality and seek a verbal agreement to the boundaries laid out.

Payment is sent to the counsellor prior to the telephone conversation each week.

Family Counselling Services

Carol has extensive experience of working with families in a therapeutic environment. Family counselling usually takes place with a parent(s) and child but can extend to more family members as and when the need arises. Within this environment, it is the counsellor’s role to ensure that all parties feel listened to and treated equally.

Appointments usually take place once a week, at the same time each week, and sessions last for one hour.

In the first session, Carol will contract with all the clients accessing the therapy and explain the nature of confidentiality.

Fees for family counselling are more expensive than 1-2-1 and couple counselling due to the number of clients involved in the therapeutic alliance. Payment is made to the counsellor at the end of the session.

Couple Counselling Services

Some of the therapists are experienced at working with two people at once in a therapeutic environment. Couple counselling provides the opportunity for a person to discuss issues of concern/problems to their loved one with the guidance and support of a third and neutral party. It is the counsellor’s job to ensure that both parties are listened too and treated equally.

Appointments usually take place once a week, at the same time each week, and sessions last for one hour.

In the first session, the therapist will contract with both clients and explain the nature of confidentiality.

Payment is made to the counsellor at the end of the session.
